Vaginismus is a condition which affects a woman's ability to engage in any form of vaginal penetration. An uncontrollable reflex causes the muscles in the vagina to tense suddenly. Gynecological examinations or even inserting a tampon can be very painful. Vaginal intercourse is often impossible.Vaginismus is rare, but an extreme strain for the affected woman and her partner. Off-the-shelf vibrators often worsen the condition and are mostly too large.
