The causes of involuntary loss of urine differ depending on which form is present. In most cases, the cause is an anatomical or functional disorder.Urethra pessaries are flexible silicone rings with calottes and have been used successfully in medicine for more than 40 years.The thickening at the top of a urethra pessary supports the lowered urethra during increased pressure on the bladder e.g. when coughing and improves its compressing function.
The thin part of medesign's Urethra Pessary is inserted first using a lubricant (e. g. medesign's Ladysoft). The calotte has to be placed exactly under the urethra.
The Urethra Pessary is rarely displaced (possible only during intercourse). Should urination occur despite correct placement, the position of the calotte has to be checked or a larger sized pessary should be chosen.
