Shepherd's purse stimulates the uterus and can induce labour.
Shepherd's purse grows inconspiciously alongside paths and is hardly noticeable as it is slender and has very small leaves. Shepherd's purse has a haemostatic effect and is, therefore, drunk in the form of tea after childbirth in order to stop vaginal bleeding. Used as tea it is can also reduce heavy menstrual bleeding. As shepherd's purse stimulates the uterus, it can also induce labour. During childbirth this is mostly a desirable effect and can speed up birth. In the early stages of pregnancy, though, this can lead to miscarriage.
Apart from these effects shepherd's purse has many other attributes and can alleviate medical conditions such as high or low blood pressure or it can promote digestion.
