Argan oil is considered to be one of the most precious oils in the world. It contains more than 80 % essential fatty acids, antioxidants and numerous ingredients such as schottenol and spinasterol.
From the kernels of the olive-like fruit of the Moroccan argan tree, a very rare and precious oil is won. The tree is a relict species which is endangered and, nowadays, only grows in southwestern Morocco. It bears its green, inedible fruit, which is a kind of nut - 3 times the size of a hazelnut - several times a year. If the fruit flesh is removed, the almonds, smaller than sunflower seeds, appear. 100 kg of fruit contain 5 kg of almonds and make only 2.4 kg of oil.
