The regular massage of the perineum causes the muscle to become become more elastic and keep its capacity for contraction.
medesign Preg Oil is recommended by midwives and gynaecologists for regular application from the beginning of pregnancy.
Further Information
There are two ways of optimally preparing the perineal muscles and tissue for birth, thus reducing the probability of an episiotomy:1. Regular exercise in order to train and relax the ligaments and muscles of the pelvic floor. Ask your trainer, gynaecologist or midwife.
2. Regular massage of the perineal area with special oils allows the perineal muscles to become softer and more flexible, thereby improving contractility. This makes it easier for the vagina to adapt to the child’s head during birth, which reduces the probability of an episiotomy or perineal tear. Midwives recommend medesign Preg Oil for this procedure. It contains St. John's wort oil (which strengthens the sensitive nerves of the pelvic floor), jojoba oil (which nourishes and softens the skin), wheat germ oil (which is rich in vitamin E and improves the elasticity of the tissue), Moroccan rose oil (which has an antiseptic and anticonvulsant effect) and clary sage oil (which has an antiseptic effect). medesign Preg Oil was especially developed for massaging the female perineal area with the help of finest natural essences. Muscles and tissue become softer and more flexible and the vagina has optimal elasticity for birth.
Application:
Apply a few drops of medesign Preg Oil to your fingertips, insert two or three fingers approx. three centimetres into the vagina and firmly massage the area between the septum and the anus in a circular motion (daily approx. 5 - 10 minutes). Midwives and gynaecologists recommend starting the massage about 6 weeks prior to the due date. Since the labia may also be stressed during birth it would be helpful to start massaging this area one week before the due date as well. Naturally medesign Preg Oil can also be used during birth in order to soothe the stressed perineal area. A midwife could perform the massage to help relax the pelvic floor and treat possible small injuries antiseptically.
